Strategy Corporate - Mergers & Acquisitions Thomson acquires controlling stake in Paprikaas Animation Our Bureau
Mr Thierry Pasquet, Vice-President, ThomsonIndia, said: "This strategic investment is a step in Thomson's initiative to expand its services to content owners and broaden its scope of offerings for the film, broadcast and gaming communities. It also provides Thomson a strategic platform from which to access the fast growing Indian media and entertainment market, thus, enabling us to accelerate our roadmap in India." Paprikaas offers creative, technical and production capabilities to design and produce computer animation for feature film. It will also provide offshoring services in animation to Thomson. Mr Nandish Domlur, Founder and CEO of Paprikaas, said: "Our partnership with Technicolor will pave the way for us to provide a unique service offering to the global animation and gaming industry." Thomson's Technicolor Content Services provides content production and distribution capabilities to Hollywood film studios, cable and TV networks and commercial advertisers. Its clients include Disney and Universal. It also provides video game content creation and development for video game publishers such as Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Sony Computer Entertainment and Vivendi Games. In India, Thomson's `Systems' division works with Tata Sky to provide set-top boxes.
