The fourth edition of Bio-Asia 2007 would begin here on February 15. The three-day meet would discuss issues such as global outsourcing opportunities for contract research, bio-business funding, bio informatics and bridging science with clinical practice.
Meetings
Addressing a pre-event press conference here on Tuesday, Dr Seyed E. Hasnain, Vice-Chancellor of University of Hyderabad, said the event was expected to see at least 70 business-to-business meetings between Indian and foreign companies.
Stating that 50 memoranda of understanding had been signed during earlier editions, Dr Hasnain said at least half of them were implemented so far.
Investments
Meanwhile, the State Government had pegged a total investment of Rs 800 crore, including Rs 100 crore from DuPont, into various biotech projects.
Mr B.P. Acharya, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), said the State would come up with the third phase of Genome Valley with 600 acres, including a 60-acre special economic zone in Medak district.
