Canara Bank sets up chair at MSE

Chennai, Feb. 13

Canara Bank announced on Tuesday that it had instituted a chair in financial economics at the Madras School of Economics (MSE), with a corpus of Rs 1 crore. Handing over the cheque to Dr C. Rangarajan, Chairman of MSE and former Governor of Reserve Bank of India, the Chairman and Managing Director of Canara Bank, Mr M. B. N. Rao said that the school's capabilities in teaching and research in financial services would be buttressed by the Chair.

Dr Rangarajan, who is also the Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, said that MSE intended to expand its M.Sc Economics programme. He said that the school also felt the need to set up a separate programme in M.Sc Financial Economics.
