Hyderabad, Feb. 13 IT solutions provider, Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), on Monday announced a Collaborative Open Innovation Network (COIN) to drive innovation and help create Intellectual Property (IP).

Referred to as Pragyan, CSC's effort is aimed at bringing together specialists to collaborate with more than 3,000 students, mentors and researchers from over 70 technical institutions and Government. It is proposed to rapidly expand the network.

The Chief Innovation Officer of the $14.7 billion, CSC, Mr Lemuel Lasher, said India has emerged as an ideal location for innovation not only because it offers clear advantage when it comes to cost of operations, but also significantly has emerged as a source of many ideas in the technology sector.

Quoting an MIT study on Innovation, Mr Lasher said that there is a positive co-relation between innovation and research and development on businesses. Mr Lasher said that the project would go beyond industry and project-based collaboration with the aim of creating an ecosystem that extends beyond aggregating ideas. Eventually, it will help bridge the gap between industry and academia.

The Chief Technology Officer, Office of Innovation, CSC, Mr William Koff, said that this is just a beginning of a long journey and as more institutions join this network, the nature and scope of innovation will grow through partnerships.
