Thiruvananthapuram Feb. 14 A meeting of the State Cabinet here on Wednesday recommended to the Governor, Mr R. L. Bhatia, to convene the Budget session of the Assembly from March 2 to 29.

Announcing this, the Chief Minister, Mr V. S. Achuthanandan, told newspersons here that the State Budget would be presented on March 9. The session would begin with the Governor's policy address to the House on March 2.

REMISSION

In a humanitarian gesture, the State Government has proposed remission in jail terms for prisoners in view of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the State formation.

The Cabinet proposed up to two years of relaxation in the case of prisoners serving life-terms and up to 15 days for those lodged for three months in prisons, Mr Achuthanandan said. The proposal will be forwarded to the Governor, he added.
