At a time when the German mining and construction equipment and machinery manufacturers are anticipating stiff competition in the global market following weakness of the US dollar vis-a-vis the euro, the organisers of Bauma 2007 have taken a strategic decision to showcase a wide range of the best and latest machinery and technology at the forthcoming international trade fair to be held in Munich from April 23 to 29. The Bauma trade fair, the focus of which is innovation, is said to have already established its credibility as the most important trade fair worldwide for the German industry.

Addressing a press conference, attended by about 200 newspersons from all over the world, the Chairman of the Bauma Advisory Board and also the Chairman of the VDMA Construction and Building Machinery Association, Dr Christof Kemmann, said about 3,000 exhibitors from around 171 countries are expected to showcase their equipment and machinery at the fair. The trade fair was first organised in 2001 by Messe Mucchem GmbH jointly with the industry and companies. The second fair was held in 2004. The current one will be the third.Claiming that that there has been 20 per cent growth in the total number of exhibitors from 2001 to 2004, the organisers expect a record turnout this year. Dr Kemmann said, "We have given the idea of partner regions another try although the public is yet to be fully aware of the concept. In fact, South America was chosen as partner region in the Bauma 2001 and the States belong to CIS in 2004". This year the Arabian peninsula has been chosen as partner region, which includes countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Yemen.
