New Delhi Feb. 14 As online trading platforms have been seeing their cash registers ringing in the build-up to Valentine's Day, flowers, soft toys and earrings top the list of gifts ordered on leading portal E-bay during the last 15 days.

Home décor products, pendants, necklaces and rings are also among the items that have seen soaring sales over the site, followed by apparel, accessories and perfumes.

The online trading platform has witnessed a seven per cent surge in its daily visitors during this season and around 17,000 products have been made available especially for Valentine's Day.

"With branded jewellery such as Sangini and Adora offering discounts of around 40 per cent, many such offers from biggies as well as small retailers provides incentives for many buyers to shop online, said Ms Deepa Thomas, company spokesperson, E-bay India.

Similarly, Internet advertisement company Tyroo estimates that it had witnessed 100 per cent increase in online advertisements for this occasion in contrast to last year. "Apart from some of the big players who already invest in online retail, a lot of small players across different cities have started leveraging the platform for such occasions. With companies such as Tyroo and Google having pay-per-click offer, it becomes feasible for such players to market their products without having to invest much on advertisements," said Mr Manish Vij, Co-founder and Business Head, Quasar Media Solutions.

"With flowers, watches, chocolates and lingeries picking up in the same fashion, we don't see much difference in product sales, be it online or on shelf. However, we find women becoming more active in online gifting as compared to last year," said Mr Aditya Khanna, Business Manager, Tyroo.
