Hyderabad, Feb. 12

Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL), a defence public sector unit, has been short-listed for the Ministry of Defence award for import substitution for 2005-06. A team of electronics division led by Lt. Col. (Retd) R.B. Jadeja has been picked for its contributions. The company has exported electronics unit to ELOP of Israel worth $1.6 million. It has thus helped to project the defence unit as a premier agency in defence electronics, an official press release here said.

BDL has also been short-listed for the development of control measure dispensing system (CMDS) in the `Innovation Category'. The CMDS units are being used on all Indian aircraft as counter measure against missiles and thus would reduce the dependency on foreign countries. According to the Chairman and Managing Director of BDL, Major General (Retd) R. Gossain, the team would receive the award from the Defence Minister on February 14, in New Delhi. BDL manufactures strategic missiles, underwater and airborne systems.
