Shapoorji Pallonji Biotech Park Private Ltd, which is part of the 600-sq. km. Genome Valley around Hyderabad, plans to forge an alliance with IIT (Kharagpur) to work on the 650-acre `Biotechnology and advanced IT Park' in West Bengal.
The park is likely to get SEZ status, Mr S. Dhawan, Chief Executive of SP Biotech Park, told Business Line.
The company is confident that land acquisition for the project would not create any problem as the land for the proposed site "is a single-crop land".
A memorandum of understanding would be signed in the next two weeks. Anchor clients were expected to begin work as soon as the site was prepared for development, he said.
Parks in HP, Uttaranchal
The company was also looking at opening parks in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal.
Stating that a long list of companies were willing to set up their base in the park in Andhra Pradesh, he said the company had initiated talks with the State Government to seek 100 more acres to begin the next phase.
The Hyderabad park, which was taken up in association with the Andhra Pradesh Government, offered world-class infrastructure for setting up manufacturing and research facilities, business support avenues and an incubation centre.
