Bangalore Feb 15 Wanna try bhelpuri with a tinge of coffee and dates? Or chicken curry with a dash of coffee?

Then the India International Coffee Festival (IICF) 2007 being held in Bangalore from February 23-25 is the place to be.

Unlike in the past, coffee is now being associated with cooking and an expert chef who has found innovative ways of using coffee in cooking would be conducting a workshop to dish out new recipes, said Ms Sunalini Menon, Chief Executive, Coffee Labs.

The focus of IICF 2007 would be on showcasing the domestic market potential, said Mr Krishna Rau, Chairman of the Coffee Board.

About 100 participants from 15 countries would be participating at the event, exploring business opportunities and showcasing newer roasting and brewing technologies, among others.

The event should indirectly trigger further consumption of the commodity, which is currently at 80,000 tonnes, growing at around six per cent annually.

Mr Anil Kumar Bhandari, Member, Coffee Board and co-ordinator of IICF 2007, said the unique feature of the event this time is skill-building workshops, wherein experts will hold sessions on brewing different types of coffees, among others.
