Pune Feb 15 Tired of having a flat tyre at an unexpected moment? Help is at hand — the Aurangabad-based Angel Industry has launched the X-wheel, the two spare wheels on which the motorcycle can be taken to the nearest mechanic. The company has also been awarded a patent for the innovation.

Mr Anant Limaye, Director, Angel Industries, told newspersons that the product can be used only if the rear wheel gets punctured; it must be attached to the rear wheel assembly of motorcycles. He also said that the X-wheel for front wheels is in the last stages of development.

The product would be made available at Rs 375 per set and will prove a boon for motorcyclists driving long distances within the city and rural areas, he said. His company will produce about 5,000 sets per day at Waluj near Aurangabad for Bajaj and TVS motorcycles and another 5,000 sets at Chakan near Pune for Honda, Yamaha and Bullet motorcycles.

Mr Limaye said the company has invested Rs 1.5 crore for the two facilities. The company plans to set up a third facility at Pantnagar in Uttaranchal by October 2007. The total investment for the three facilities would be Rs 6 crore, he said.

Angel Industries currently manufactures ancillary parts for Piaggio Ape vehicles and acrylic glass for the automobile industry through its plants at Baramati, Pune and Aurangabad and has recorded turnover of Rs 10 crore during the last fiscal.
