SCALING HIGHER: Corn kept for sale at a retail outlet in Kochi. The Centre has allowed duty free imports of corn in the wake of higher domestic prices but it has not had much of an effect. Hardly anything has been contracted for imports. Currently, corn is ruling at Rs 1,050 a quintal. Corn prices have increased on rising domestic demand from the starch and poultry sectors, besides exports.
