NEPC launches solar power equipment for households

New Delhi Feb. 16 The Chennai-based NEPC India Ltd launched Power House, solar energy equipment to provide power for households and shops in 500W and 1000W capacities.

The company will target offices, domestic and industrial houses for its new products. "The product can run TV, computer, lighting and fans and can support shops, small restaurants, apart from households, for 8-10 hours," said Mr Raj Kumar Khemka, Vice-Chairman, NEPC India Ltd.

Assuming an electricity bill of Rs 4,000-6,000 per month for a household, the equipment will have a pay-back period of about four years, while the equipment will have a lifespan of 10 years, he said. By augmenting an investment of Rs 40,000 after 10 years, the product will run another 10 years, added Mr Khemka.

The company expects a turnover of Rs 200 crore in the current year and Rs 1,000 crore in the next year with the product.

In future, the company also plans to arrange institutional finance for small shop owners to purchase the product.

Mr Khemka said that the company would spend Rs 55 crore in the current year on new solar products and expanding the current production capacity. It also plans to export the product to African and the SAARC countries.
