Salem Feb. 18 Innovative business strategies are essential to face the challenges in the globalised economy, the Vice-President-Marketing, Sally Thermo Plastic India Ltd, Mr S. Jeyachandran, has said.

He was delivering the keynote address at the two-day national seminar on `Strategic Management: Opportunities and Challenges in Post LPG (Liberalisation, Privatisation and Globalisation) Era' organised by Periyar Institute of Management Studies (PRIMS), Periyar University. Business Line was the session sponsor.

He said that the liberalisation of economy had opened up tremendous opportunities to the Indian businessmen. "If we are innovative, good at converting information into required-knowledge and develop relationships, then we can grow faster in the business globally," he said.

Students should develop the habit of reading business newspapers to enhance their knowledge. The management education should be scientific and meaningful. It should help students meet the challenges and make effective use of business opportunities, he said.

Presiding over the seminar, the Vice-Chancellor, Mr T. Balakrishnan, said that students should understand the rapid changes in the field of management and adopt new methods and techniques in business administration.

The Chairman, Indian Human Rights Vigilance Organisation, Indian Railways Employees Human Rights Association, Chennai, Mr N.F.J. Ponnudurai, and the PRIMS Director, Mr N. Rajendhiran, also spoke.
