Pharma-Bio award for IICT chief

Hyderabad, Feb. 18 Dr J.S. Yadav, Director of the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, was presented with the Pharma-Bio Award 2007 by the Chemtech Foundation in recognition of his dedication to quality research and development work.

Dr Yadav is involved with the setting up a Rs 150-crore Centre for Chemical Genomic for Drug Development. This is first such venture in the country set up with the objective of identifying final stage of drug development.

According to a statement from IICT, under his guidance, IICT provides R&D and custom synthesis services for companies like Glaxo SmithKline, UK, DuPont, US, Confluent Surgical, US, Evolva, Switzerland, Asian Cosmos R&D Co Japan and is also engaged with several pharma companies for herbal compositions to treat gastric ulcers, diabetes and cancer.
