Bangalore, Feb. 18

Wockhardt Hospitals has launched its first 50-bed regional hospital in Bangalore. The Wockhardt Hospital ICU and Community Care Centre at Rajajinagar in West Bangalore includes a 12-bed ICU. "Similar hospitals are being set up across all the cities where Wockhardt Hospitals have a presence," said Mr Vishal Bali, CEO, Wockhardt Hospitals Group.

The network linked through a mobile fleet is part of Workhardt's ongoing Rs 500-crore healthcare expansion, with each set-up estimated at Rs 8-10 crore. "There is an increasing need for critical care and a gross shortage of ICU beds," said Dr Lloyd Nazareth, Head, Wockhardt Hospitals, Bangalore. The group hospitals are present in Bangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur and Kolkata. The Minister of State for Health, Mr R. Ashok, inaugurated the unit on Saturday.
