LOW GLOBAL PRICES: A worker engaged in a ginger farm near Vadakumchery in Kerala's Palakkad district. Lower global prices have prompted traders to opt for imports. About 13,500 tonnes of ginger (fresh/dry) valued at Rs 15.25 crore were imported during April-November this fiscal against 10,810 tonnes valued at Rs 28.52 crore during the corresponding period a year ago.
