Visakhapatnam Feb. 20 The Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (Visakhapatnam steel plant) can save up to Rs 600 crore a year if has its own captive iron ore mines and the Union Government is making all attempts to grant such mines to the company, said Mr T. Subbarami Reddy, Union Minister of State for Mines.

He was speaking at the valedictory function of the three-day silver jubilee celebrations of the RINL here on Tuesday evening. The Minister said the plant had been established after great struggles and the sacrifice of many lives in the agitation.

Mr Y. Sivasagara Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, and Mr K. Ramakrishna, State Commercial Taxes Minister, also spoke at the occasion.
