Announcements S.P. Jain Centre to tap corporate training space Archana Venkat
Though aimed at fostering research and management development studies, the centre may mainly cater to corprates. "We will run common programmes as well as customised programmes on specific modules," said Dr Vijay Sethi, Dean-Global MBA Programme, S.P. Jain Centre for Management Dubai/ Singapore. Speaking to Business Line on the sidelines of a two-day seminar organised by the Madras Management Association, he said there was huge demand for corporate training across the globe and academic institutions had not tapped this market effectively.
Focus on training
For instance, most fresh recruits are trained in-house or by human resource consultants and trainers. "Our faculty has trained such fresh recruits in the past, especially in Singapore, which is a training hub for all MNCs," said Dr Sethi. The new centre would now cater to this training. The company is also looking at programmes for middle and senior management personnel in areas like global leadership. Customised training would also be provided, where the company and the centre jointly develop a curriculum for employees. Mr Sethi said the institute had addressed employees of Hewlett Packard in areas such as sales and marketing. Recently, the institute's Indian campus tied up with Patni Computer Systems for developing a one-year programme on Supply Chain Management.
