Bank strike plan dropped

Our Bureau

Chennai, Feb. 20

Consequent to the management and unions of Central Bank of India coming to an agreement, the United Forum of Bank Unions has called off the strike planned for February 23. The unions of Central Bank of India had given a call for a strike on Thursday to protest against certain practices of the management which it felt to be unilateral and vindictive.

The United Forum of Bank Unions had called for a strike of all banks for the next day, to express solidarity with the employees of Central Bank. But now that the dispute between the unions and management of Central Bank has been "amicably settled", "we have called off the strike", Mr Profullo Patnaik, Convenor, UBFU, told Business Line on Tuesday.
