Jharkhand's annual Plan for 2007-08 has been fixed at Rs 6,676 crore at a meeting between the Planning Commission Deputy Chairman, Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, and the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Mr Madhu Koda, here on Wednesday.
In his remarks, Mr Ahluwalia urged the State to pay more focused attention on human development and noted that faster growth rate was desirable as the State has low per capita income and large number of people were still below the poverty line.
The State was also advised to announce its own relief and rehabilitation policy for mining and mineral operations, as it would benefit in gaining investors' confidence. It should also have to keep in view environmental constraints while inviting private investments. Strengthening of planning machinery, mission on watershed development and identification of flagship schemes for focused attention were also recommended.
Briefing the Plan panel, Mr Koda said in the Eleventh Plan, the State would pursue a growth target of 9.8 per cent, which would consist of agricultural growth rate of 6.3 per cent, industry 12 per cent and services at 8 per cent.
