Union Bank plans to open 20 more ATMs in Kolkata

Kolkata Feb. 21 Union Bank of India proposes to launch 20 new ATMs in Kolkata in the next two months to bring the total to 47.

Launching the two new deposit products here on Wednesday, namely, Union Double Plus Deposit Scheme and Union Double Plus Tax Saver Scheme as part of the bank's countrywide retail deposit mobilisation campaign, Mr S.C. Sinha, General Manager, East Zone, and Mr S. Govindan, Deputy General Manager in charge of Kolkata region, pointed out that with a total branch network of 95 including 46 under the Anywhere Banking Scheme, Union Bank was maintaining healthy credit-deposit ratio of 80 per cent in the State with a deposit base of about Rs 2,700 crore and credit base of Rs 2,300 crore.

"We've so far opened six branches in the State in the current year and propose to open one more shortly," they said.

Rural focus

Referring to the bank's thrust in rural areas, it was pointed out that as many as 51 villages in West Bengal had been brought under 100 per cent Banking Habit Village scheme while nine village centres offered specialised counselling and guidance to farmers on latest improvement in farming techniques, soil conservation and other related matters. The bank also acts as business facilitator in rural areas.
