Paramount increases Madurai-Chennai link

Paramount Airways has added an additional flight between Madurai and Chennai, which is effective from February 26.

Introduced as an evening flight, it will leave Chennai at 16.00 hrs and reach Madurai at 16.55 hrs.

It will return from Madurai at 17.20 hrs and reach Chennai at 18.15 hrs.

New service

Announcing the new service at a press meet, the Managing Director, Mr M. Thiagarajan, said the additional connectivity has been introduced keeping in mind the growing requirements of international passengers, who can take the connecting international flights leaving from Chennai conveniently.

Promoting tourism

Also, the focus is to improve business development in tier II towns and promotion of tourism, he added.

He further said that the airline has received the `International Arch of Europe' award for innovation and technology in a function held at Frankfurt on February 19. The recognition is based on the criteria of QC100 quality model, implemented in over 100 countries.

Referring to the performance since the introduction of the airline, he said the network load factor has been around 85 per cent and year-on-year passenger growth has been phenomenally high at 30 per cent, and the group enjoyed a market share of 24 per cent.

More aircraft

In the next three years, 15 more aircraft will be added to secure a dominant presence and provide more connectivity.

There is a proposal to cover Tiruchi soon.

Direct connection to Bangalore and Mumbai from Madurai is also under consideration.

Expansion to western India will be done by the end of the year, he mentioned.
