New Delhi, Feb. 22

Ranbaxy Laboratories' Romanian subsidiary Terapia has received manufacturing and import authorisation from Romanian Regulatory Agency, and now has permission to batch test and release products manufactured outside European Union.

In an official statement released by the company, Ranbaxy said that it intends to transform Terapia-Ranbaxy into a strategic regional hub for the company's operations in Europe. The Indian pharma major acquired Terapia in March last year for about $324 million. Ranbaxy has also expressed its interest in acquiring Merck KGaA's generic business, and is expected to make a bid for it very soon.
