Kalyani Lemmerz plans new plant

Pune Feb. 22 Kalyani Lemmerz Ltd is setting up a greenfield project to manufacture steel wheels for passenger cars and is also enhancing capacity at the existing facility at Chakan to manufacture steel wheels for commercial vehicles.

The new plant that will be located next to its current plant will begin production by October 2008 will have an installed capacity of four million wheels annually. It will involve an investment of Rs 55-60 crore.

The company will also up the capacity of the CV wheel plant from the existing 600,000 to 800,000 by July and take it to the 200,000 mark by 2008, at a total investment of Rs 45 crore.

Kalyani Lemmerz is a 15:85 partnership between the Kalyani Group and Hayes Lemmerz.
