New Delhi Feb. 22 Artemis Health Sciences is set to enter the medical education domain with plans to establish one or more medical universities.

"The campus will consist of a medical college, nursing and paramedic college, medical administration school all in one area, along with a tertiary care hospital," said Dr Kushagra Katariya, CEO, Artemis Health Sciences. Each such campus may take as much as Rs 500 crore to set up.

The company hopes to offer medical education across a `comprehensive spectrum of the medical field'. It is in talks with the US and South-East Asia-based universities for affiliation.

Gurgaon hospital

Artemis, the healthcare venture of Mr Onkar S. Kanwar controlled PTL Enterprises, is set to inaugurate its first 500-bed hospital in Gurgaon in April.

However, the company's medical education plans are on a pan-India basis, and will most probably come up outside of the National Capital Region. It is now considering locations for the institutes, including Ahmedabad and Kanpur. Details of the site, the investment, and scope of the project are to be announced within the next three months.

Artemis is also likely to start its contract research organisation (CRO) activities soon.
