Our Bureau

Kolkata, Feb. 22

Rear-Admiral Mr T.S. Ganeshan (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director of the Kolkata-based Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE), has presented a cheque for Rs 10 crore as interim dividend for the current year (2006-07) to Mr A.K. Antony, Defence Minister, on February 20. The company enjoys the status of a "Category-I Miniratna". For 2005-06, profit after tax, value of production, as well as the number of ships launched and delivered were a record in the history of GRSE. In the current financial year, the company has delivered one large landing ship tank INS Shardul and two fast attack craft, INS Battimaly and INS Baratang. GRSE has embarked upon an ambitious expansion plan and has already acquired the Rajabagan Dockyard as a first step in this direction.
