RBI fiat on customer complaints

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Feb. 22

The Committee on Procedures and Performance Audit on Public Services (CPPAPS) has suggested banks should place a statement analysing customer complaints before their boards. "Further a suggestion has been received that unimplemented awards of the Banking Ombudsman should be disclosed with financial results", said a notification from RBI.

"The matter has been examined in the light of enhancing the effectiveness of the grievance redressal mechanism and banks are accordingly advised to place a statement of complaints before their Boards or Customer Service Committees," added the notification.
