New Delhi Feb. 22 In the wake of the Wal-Mart Vice-Chairman, Mr Mike Duke's, India visit, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), on Thursday, criticised the Union Government for its continued attempts in facilitating the entry of multinational companies and big industrial houses into the retail sector.

"Even the communication from the UPA leader Ms Sonia Gandhi could not motivate the Government to make its stand clear on the entry of multinationals into the domestic retailing scenario," said Mr Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General, CAIT.

Mr Khandelwal said, "It is not only the traders but manufacturers, farmers, cottage and small-scale industries that will be targeted by big industrial houses and multinational companies in their endeavour to capture the Indian market."
