A MBA degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst can now be had in India. American Higher Education India, which started offering education programmes from the US varsities last year, has roped in the university to offer its management programme here.
"The programme will be offered in an online-onsite model, where any part can be pursued on the net and the rest in the college campus," said Mr Nagesh Singh, President, American Higher Education India.
Admission to the programme will start in a few weeks as the course is slated for an August-September launch. The fees would be around Rs 11.5 lakh for the entire course.
More programmes
The degree can be completed in a minimum of 1.5 years and a maximum of four years, depending upon the pace at which a student pursues the course.
The company had earlier launched programmes from three leading universities of the US Harvard, Boston and Columbia.
The company also plans to open two more learning centres in the country. "We are looking to open centres in Mumbai and Bangalore. We expect them to come up in the second half of the current year," said Mr Singh. The company had opened a centre in Gurgaon earlier last year. Apart from these four universities, it plans to introduce courses from two more leading US universities in the country soon.
The parent company, American Higher Ed Inc, works with top 100 universities for education and training solutions for the rest of the world. Based in Boston, it also develops proprietary training interventions. Like the learning centre in Gurgaon, there are centres planned in Seoul and Beijing.
