New Delhi Feb. 22 The announcement of the election schedule for Uttar Pradesh will not affect the presentation of the Union Budget, Election Commission officials have said.

The Election Commission has announced a seven-phase election process that would see polling to begin on April 7 and end on May 8.

The Union Budget is to be presented on February 28, thereby putting a question mark on what impact the Assembly elections would have on the Budget. A spokesperson of the Election Commission said that only UP specific proposal or projects, which may be included in the Budget, needed prior clearance of the Commission.
