A 50-member delegation from Australia led by the Minister for Trade, Mr Warren Truss, will be in India next week to participate in the 16th Joint Business Council, according to a press release from the Australian High Commission.
The delegation will be here between February 26 and March 2. The release said that the Joint Business Council is jointly organised by the Australian High Commission and the Australia India Business Council.
It coincides with the Joint Ministerial Commission meeting between Mr Truss and the Union Minister for Commerce, Mr Kamal Nath.
Quoting Mr Truss, the release said that India was Australia's 11th largest merchandise trading partner growing faster than any of its top 30 export markets. Two-way trade in goods and services has grown to more than $12 billion last year.
The business delegation will meet with officials and business groups through the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The recommendations from these discussions will be conveyed to the ministerial committee, the release said.
Mr Truss will visit Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and New Delhi along with representatives from banking and financial services, mining, infrastructure, education, information and communication technology, aviation, agribusiness, aquaculture and sports. He will also meet with the Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, the release said.
