Hyderabad Feb. 23 Construction and excavation equipment company JCB India has announced plans to roll out two more models — one in April and another in May — and expects to further expand their Ballabhgarh unit and consolidate Pune plant.

The company achieved a landmark of selling 50,000 machines in India. About 23,000 of them were sold in the last three years. The company believes that the market for construction equipment is poised for growth with hectic activity in infrastructure sectors

New Launches

The Managing Director of JCB India, Mr Vipin Sondhi, said that the company sold about 10,860 machines last year registering revenues of Rs 2,000 crore and this year they expect a growth of about 25-30 per cent.

Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Sondhi said that the new launches would cater to road construction related work and another for excavation.

Both of these would now be made in India. The JS 140, a 14-tonne machine was imported all these years from their UK plant and it is now proposed to roll them out from Pune. Mr Sondhi said the company had completed expansion of the Ballabhgarh unit with an outlay of Rs 100 crore and $50 million (about Rs 225 crore) in two plants in Pune. It is now proposed to expand the component plant and step up exports.
