Mixed trend in spot rubber

Kottayam Feb. 24 Domestic physical rubber prices witnessed a mixed trend on Saturday. RSS 4 closed slightly down at Rs 96.50 a kg against Rs. 96.75 and Rs 97 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi on scattered transactions in a rather dull trading day.

Ungraded rubber also shed its previous day's gains, while rest of the grades, including latex, ended unchanged amidst low volumes.

Futures neutral

The futures market was almost neutral in the weekend session. Traders appeared slightly optimistic about far-month contracts on NMCE. The March contract finished at Rs 96.97 (Rs 96.99), April at Rs 102.85 (Rs 102.50), May at Rs 107.10 (Rs 106.66) and June at Rs 110.25 (Rs 109.83 ) a kg for RSS 4.

The most active March contract for RSS 4 closed at Rs 97.68 a kg against Rs 98.71 a kg on MCX.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 96.50 (96.75); RSS-5: 94(94); ungraded 92 (92.50); ISNR 20 92 (92) and latex 60% 64.20 (64.20).
