Pakistan, China sign MoU

Pakistan and China recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) allowing a joint venture company Pak China Sost Dry Port Trust to manage and operate Sost dry port located in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The MoU was signed by the Chairman of Sinotrans China, of China, and the Vice-Chairman of Silk Route Dry Port Trust of Pakistan.

The registered office of the joint venture company will be located in the Northern areas "for amicable handling of all affairs pertaining to business and management of the dry port" which, it is felt, will facilitate trade between the two countries by the land route. The new board of the joint venture will be constituted shortly at a meeting to be held in China and it has been decided that the present liabilities of the partner companies will not be passed on to the joint venture.
