Hindustan Newsprint jubilee

Hindustan Newsprint Ltd (HNL) is celebrating its silver jubilee on February 26. The Governor of Kerala, Mr R.L. Bhatia will inaugurate the celebrations. The State Minister for Industries, Mr Elamaram Kareem, and the Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly, Mr Oommen Chandy, will be present. Bharath Balachandra Menon will inaugurate the cultural programme. The celebrations will conclude on June 6 next year.

The operations of HNL started with an installed capacity of 80,000 tonnes a year to produce standard newsprint. The company produces newsprint grades of 45 GSM and 48.8 GSM of quality, which is at par with the best available in the market. The company provides direct employment to about 1,000 persons and indirect employment to over 20,000.
