M.P. annual Plan outlay pegged at Rs 12,011 cr

The annual Plan outlay for Madhya Pradesh for 2007-08 has been fixed at Rs 12,011 crore which include one-time additional Central assistance of Rs 111 crore for projects of special assistance to the State. The outlay is 33.16 per cent higher than the last year's Plan outlay.
According to an official communiqué, the annual Plan size for Madhya Pradesh was approved on Saturday at a meeting between the Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, and the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The Deputy Chairman said the Commission was keen on improving efficiency of the Centrally-sponsored schemes and would carry out a review of guidelines shortly.
On the economic performance of the State, it was pointed out that indicators were moving in the right direction and efforts were on to take the State out of `Bimaru' status. Progress has been made in social sector specially education and health, it was observed. Further acceleration of efforts aimed at employment generation and poverty reduction was needed, the statement said. The Chief Minister said that State had improved fiscal management.
