The company launched its third centre in the country here on Monday after similar stores in Pune and Chennai. It plans to set up three more shortly. The Bajaj Auto Vice-President, Mr K. Srinivas, said these showrooms with investment of upwards of Rs 1.5 crore per store, would be developed by the company itself and cater to professional biking segment. Launching its 200cc Bajaj Pulsar DTSi bike here on Monday, Mr Srinivas said that the company plans to roll out a 220cc version later this year. These stores are aimed at catering to a totally different segment of biking enthusiasts and are provided with a facility to test drive and experience the features before they actually decide to buy.
Special features
A store visitor has access to various features of the bike and access to computers to do some research on the type of bike and the features it packs in. Of the 6 lakh bikes sold in the country per month, about 3,500 are sold per month in this category and likely to go up to 7,000 per month. With the launch of the 200cc bike, even the 180cc bike would not be available in this format store. These Probiking showrooms are connected to Bajaj Auto's central SAP enterprise resource planning system and provides for interactive terminals.
