Infrastructure States - Kerala Decision on Kochi Smart City imminent Our Bureau
Mr Achuthanandan said this while speaking to newspersons after emerging from a second round of talks with visiting officials of the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority (Tecom), the would-be promoters of the project. Perceived differences on most issues have been sorted out, according to officials who represented the State Government in the talks. Expectations of reaching an agreement ahead of the Budget session of the Assembly scheduled to begin in March are running high.
CM DROPS HINTS
The Chief Minister gave out sufficient hints of this happening, while reiterating that a consensus had been reached on most of the outstanding issues. On its part, the Tecom delegation led by Mr Farid Abdul Rahman too was optimistic about hammering out a deal this time round. The revised terms of the agreement for setting up the Smart City are reported to be radically different from those framed by the former UDF Government, which Mr Achuthanandan termed as amounting to pawning of the State's vital interests.
