Hyderabad Feb. 26 The Andhra Pradesh Minister for Tourism and Major Industries, Dr J. Geeta Reddy, has said that two more technology business incubators (TBIs) are envisaged in the Shapoorji Pallonji Biotech Park and the ICICI Knowledge Park in Hyderabad.

These would be in addition to the existing five business incubators in and around the city. TBIs strengthen collaboration between industry and the academia, and turn ideas into viable businesses, she said while inaugurating the Indian STEP and Business Incubator Association (ISBA 2007), being held at International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT).

The ICRISAT along with ICICI Knowledge Park and the University of Hyderabad are organising the first annual conference of ISBA 2007 between February 25 and 27.

The conference has attracted around 150 delegates who are managers of technology incubator parks and companies that are being incubated in the STEPs and Business incubators, according to a press release.

Dr Dyno Keatinge, Deputy Director General of ICRISAT, speaking on behalf of Director General Mr William Dar, said that ICRISAT has catalysed public-private partnerships through the agri-business incubator.

Mr H.K. Mittal, Advisor and Head of Department of Science and Technology, said that technology business incubators make business out of ideas. Incubators are finishing schools for future business tycoons.
