NET signs pact with UK varsity

The UK-based Bedfordshire University and the Nitte Education Trust (NET) have signed an agreement for twinning programmes between the two institutions. Inaugurating the new e-campus of the Justice K.S. Hegde Institute of Management (a constituent institution of Nitte Education Trust) at Nitte in Udupi district, Prof Les Ebdon, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of Bedfordshire University, said that both the organisations have signed an agreement for twinning programmes in MBA and Master of Science in Computers.
The agreement would help both the organisations, he said.
Prof Ebdon stressed the need for giving importance to the trans-national education in this era of globalisation.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Balaveera Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, urged the educational institutions to have twinning programmes with industries also.
He informed the gathering that 121 engineering colleges affiliated to VTU are connected through Edusat system. Mr N. Vinay Hegde, President of NET, presided over the meeting. Dr M.S. Moodithaya, Director of Justice K.S. Hegde Institute of Management, welcomed the gathering.
