Ahmedabad March 2 After increasing its equity from 60 per cent to 89 per cent in its joint venture with Mamata Group, KHS India, a subsidiary of the Germany-based KHS Group, is considering providing filling and packaging equipment solutions to food and non-food segments.

The company, whose new manufacturing facility was inaugurated by the Gujarat Chief Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, near here recently , has, at present, a 65 per cent market share in the Indian beverage bottling industry, with a turnover of Rs 350 crore per annum. The new facility has the potential to increase it by another Rs 500 crore, according to the CEO of KHS Group, Mr Valentin Reisgen, and the Executive Director, KHS India, Mr Yatindra Sharma.

Nearly half of the company's revenues come from exports to South Korea, China, Eastern Europe and the US.

They told reporters that Rs 40 crore has been invested in the first phase of expansion and another Rs 60 crore would be spent on the second phase.

Earlier, the company was focusing on providing bottling and packaging equipment solutions for water, soft drinks, beer and other beverages. Its clientele includes UB Group, Coca-Cola and Pepsico. The company would also approach milk producers such as Amul and the tea industry in the near future, to provide packaging solutions.

As an international manufacturer of filling and packaging equipment for the beverage, food and non-food industry, along with the Indian factory here, KHS AG has eight German production facilities and manufacturing plants in Brazil, the US, Mexico and China.
