Jamshedpur March 2 The Anglo-Dutch steel major Corus Group Plc is hopeful of joining the `Tata family' in April. An extraordinary general meeting of the company has been convened in London on March 7 to secure shareholders' approval with regard to the Tata-Corus deal.

The company is confident that its shareholders would "overwhelmingly" approve the Tata-Corus deal, Mr Jim Leng, Chairman, Corus Group Plc, said during an impromptu and brief interaction with newspersons here today.

Mr Leng is in Jamshedpur to attend Tata Steel's Founder's Day Celebrations here on Saturday. He is accompanied by Mr Philippe Varin, CEO, Corus Group Plc. Mr Leng inaugurated an exhibition `Celebrating Globalism - A Tribute to the Founder' at Jubilee Park here.

Before inaugurating the exhibition, Mr Leng, along with the Corus family, attended the illumination of the sprawling Jubilee Park by Mr S.A. Sabavala, Director, Tata Sons, and a Tata nominee on the reconstituted Corus Board. Even as the spectacular laser display was on, one could not miss out on an electric light board, which read "Tata Steel welcomes Corus to Jamshedpur".
