About 28 of the top European agricultural and food processing companies, representing 13 countries of the total 27 European Union member states, are all set to embark on a five-day visit to India beginning March 6, said the Ambassador and Head of delegation of the European Commission in India, Mr Francisco Da Cāmara Gomes.
The EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Ms Mariann Fischer Boel, will head the team.
According to an official release, Mr Da Cāmara said, "The key objective of the Commissioner's visit is to reinforce and highlight common areas of partnership and growth in the field of agriculture and food processing technology.
"The five-day visit of Ms Boel is a clear indication of EU's growing interest in potential investment opportunities in India."
The companies include Arla Foods (Denmark), Danone, Agrana Fruit, Bonduelle and Latalis (France), Valio Fruits and Vegetables (Finland), AMC and Grupo SOS (Spain), Conserve Italia Sca (Italy), Delcof (Greece), Sovena (Portugal), Total Produce Meat and Kerry Group (Ireland), Scotch and Whisky Association (UK) and Danish Crown (Denmark).
