Employment IIM-K grads land big offers Our Bureau
Sharp jump The average domestic salary offer jumped by 30 pc to Rs 11.76 lakh per annum, up from Rs 9.02 lakh last year.
With a major cluster of students drawing a median salary of Rs 10.93 lakh, most of them are expected to have obtained handsome packages. With offers from divergent geographies, 21 students bagged international offers based out of the US, Europe, West Asia and the Asia-Pacific region, a press release from the institute said. The highest domestic pay stood at Rs 22 lakh per annum, a jump of 32 per cent over last year's top figure of Rs 16.67 lakh. Almost 75 per cent of the batch landed salaries of more than Rs 10 lakh, with 33 students bagging offers in excess of Rs 15 lakh. Some of the major companies who made international offers were Olam International, Infosys Technologies, Wipro Technologies, Patni Computers, Cognizant and RPG Group. The top international salary was $110,000. In a departure from previous years, more than 20 per cent of the batch gave up better paying jobs for a role of their own choice. One of the students decided to go solo, entering into an entrepreneurial venture of marketing and distribution of high-technology products.
New recruiters
With 34 companies adding their names to the list of new recruiters, the Class of 2007 had far more offers of their choice. New recruiters included McKinsey & Co, KPMG, Accenture Business Consulting, Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, Barclays Capital, HSBC, Goldman Sachs, Yes Bank, Stern Stewart & Co, Google, Yahoo!, Colgate-Palmolive and Cadbury, among others. Other major recruiters this year were Citigroup, Lehman Brothers, Standard Chartered Bank, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, Bristlecone Consulting, CHAINalytics, Asian Paints, Marico and ITC. Global corporations such asCitifinancial demonstrated faith in the quality of talent available at IIM-K by recruiting three students for the post of Assistant Vice-President the highest number of offers across campuses for this role. Cognizant made 15 offers, JP Morgan Chase 13 offers, Deloitte nine offers and Accenture Business Consulting, with five offers, were among the biggest recruiters on campus this year.
