The company has placed a Rs 900-crore order with Suzlon Energy, the leading wind power company, for setting up the project, an ADAG group spokesperson said.
The project will be implemented in two phases and the rollout is expected by March 2008.
After completion, the project will generate 380 million units a year, which will be purchased by Reliance Energy Ltd for its Mumbai distribution business.
"The project will contribute towards fulfilling the obligations of our distribution business to procure renewable energy as prescribed by the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission," the spokesperson said.
"We are looking at all the opportunities to augment our generation capacity."
In a statement, Reliance Wind Energy said that it plans to set up 500 MW of wind power in various States over the next three years.
