Chilli futures hit upper circuit

Mumbai March 6 Continuing the bullish trend, chilli futures on NCDEX hit the upper circuit and closed up by 4.27 per cent at Rs 4,712 per quintal. Lower arrivals and good export demand helped the rally in chilli futures.

Speculative buying pushed up pepper futures 2.21 per cent to Rs 11,935 per quintal. Chana futures on NCDEX rose 1.68 per cent to Rs 2,058 per quintal on the back of firm spot advices. After plunging over 8 per cent on Monday, rubber futures on MCX moved up 3.37 per cent to Rs 9,091 on short covering.

Guarseed futures were up 2.13 per cent to Rs 1,916 per quintal in anticipation of good export orders. Mentha oil futures on MCX lost 3.57 per cent to Rs 535 per kg. Maize futures on NCDEX dropped 1.12 per cent to Rs 748 per quintal.

NCDEX registered a turnover of Rs 3,048 crore (Rs 3,171 crore, up to 5 p.m.) up to 5 pm on 97,988 (95,860), while on MCX it was Rs 3,731 crore (Rs 13,061 crore, up to 5 p.m.) on 64,286 (202,542) trades. Active trades were seen in chana, pepper, guarseeds, refined soy oil, jeera and gold.
