UCO Bank bets on retail sales force

Visakhapatnam March 6 UCO Bank is aiming to achieve business volume of Rs 1,000 crore by the end of the month (and the financial year) through its retail sales force from the current level of Rs 800 crore, according to Mr S.K. Das, the General Manager.

Mr Das, who was here on Tuesday to inaugurate the retail sales force of the bank, said there had been good response to the initiative of the bank to appoint retail sales force teams and so far such teams had been formed in 38 centres in the country, and three in Andhra Pradesh (Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Vizag). "The retail sales force teams have so far notched up Rs 800 crore and we are aiming at Rs 1,000 crore by the end of the month and the financial year," he said.

He said such retail sales force teams would be appointed in six more centres by the end of the month. Mr Das said the bank would not appoint franchisees, or outsiders, for the retail sales force. "We will rely entirely on our staff," he said.

The bank, which was having business volume of Rs 50,000 crore only three-and-a-half years ago, could double it in the period , he said
