People Tea Board gets 9 new members P.S. Sundar
According to the latest notification of the Government, these members will hold office till March 31, 2008. Of the nine new members, two persons have been appointed to represent the manufacturers of tea under Rule 4 (1) (f) of the Tea Rules 1954. Two have been appointed to represent the owners of tea gardens under Rule 4 (1) c. They are Mr Arjun Sahu of Rajmai Tea Estate, Assam, and Mr A. Nivedith Thomas of Bangalore.
Workers' representatives
Three members have been appointed under Rule 4 (1) (d) to represent employees. They are Mr C.A. Kurien, General Secretary, All India Federation of Plantation Workers, Munnar, Mr P.A. Joseph, President, Indian National Plantation Workers Federation, Idukky, and Mr Alok Chakravarty of Siliguri. Mr K.K. Viswanathan Master of Wynaad has been appointed to represent the consumer interest under Rule 4 (1) (g) and Mr K.V. Subba Reddy of Kolar to represent other interests under Rule 4 (1) (h).
