A team of officials from the Public Works Department, Tamil Nadu, is in South Australia to discuss with experts there on water management, according to a press release from the Department of Trade and Economic Development, South Australia.
This is the fallout of the sister-state agreement signed between the two Governments last year during the visit of Mr Mike Rann, Premier of South Australia.
South Australia has expertise in water bodies restoration, management and modern agriculture, a necessity driven by its status as a driest State in the continent, which is itself considered the driest, the release said.
Quoting Mr A.K. Tareen, Director of Trade & Investment, Government of South Australia, the release said, "The sister-state agreement also envisages co-operation in education, tourism, manufacturing, films, and public servant exchange programme." Mr Rann is expected to visit India later this year when the ties with Tamil Nadu will be expanded to cover more areas such as renewable energy, nanotechnology and biotechnology.
